After spending my freshman year at Monroe Community College where I studied business administration while playing lacrosse, I transferred to SUNY Oswego. My sophomore year at Oswego was filled with ups and downs while I changed my major to Communications and endured the struggles of juggling the workload of a four-year university as well as playing a Division III sport.

My sophomore year of lacrosse did not turn out as well as I had planned. After becoming a starter in the fall, I slid down the depth chart as spring approach. I was not made aware of what actions I made that were incorrect and no one spoke to me as to why this was happening. I ended up playing sparingly during the regular season and played in critical games at times when the game was on the line although I had not played with the starters all week during practice.

This fall, the coach at Oswego informed me that it was time for the program to move in a different direction. He convinced me that it was not due to a lack of effort on my part, but rather that there was a large group of freshmen coming in and he was building for the future.

Once I made the decision that I wanted to continue my lacrosse career, I called Coach John C. Johnson here at St. John Fisher College and he told me that I would be welcomed on the team. I shared my excitement with him and let him know that I would continue to work hard and do my best every day. Now that I am here at St. John Fisher College, I am excited about the opportunities that both the school and lacrosse program have to offer me.

St. John Fisher Lacrosse 2013

St. John Fisher Lacrosse 2013

With a program that started just eleven years ago in 2002, the St. John Fisher lacrosse program has reached a high level of success. Head Coach John C. Johnson has led the Cardinals since 2006 and held an 84-26 record entering this year.  Despite such a high winning percentage, Coach Johnson is still itching for his first conference title in the always-competitive Empire 8. With the likes of Nazareth College, Ithaca College, and Stevens Institute of Technology, there is no shortage of competitive teams that have a chance to win the conference every year.

For this 2013 season,

The Cardinals have selected Michael Boisvert, Jamie Campagna, Ryan Freige, David Hasley, and Greg Ramsden as their captains to lead them through the season.

The Cardinals have selected Michael Boisvert, Jamie Campagna, Ryan Freige, David Hasley, and Greg Ramsden as their captains to lead them through the season.

Boisvert leads an attack group with juniors Jeff Wester and Brett Farrell, along with fellow senior Brian Cole.

Jamie Campagna stands in goal for the second consecutive year after an impressive sophomore campaign in which he had an outstanding .533 save percentage along with 145 saves on the season.

Ryan Freige looks to add from an effective junior season in which he was 56.5% from the face-off X. As the leading face-off man this season, Freige will set the pace for the Cardinals as they lean on the Senior for his leadership.

David Hasley comes back for his junior year after starting at long-stick midfield last year. Hasley had an excellent season as a sophomore as he was tied for second on the team with sixteen caused turnovers.

Greg Ramsden looks to set the pace of St. John Fisher’s midfield with his blazing speed and quick left-handed shot. Ramsden is poised for a much larger role in the offense this year and expects to have a breakthrough year.
